Gibraltar - The southern end of the Iberian Peninsula

Gibraltar Bay offers protected tidal waters idealy suited to sail training programmes. Within the bay Algeciras Port, La linea, Gibraltar harbour and Europa point all provide areas for pilotage, anchoring, close quarter manoeuvring and race training in virtually all weather conditions and tidal states.

The cruising/training area within the immediate vicinity is vast and varied, Africa is only 13 miles away, making ports of Ceuta, Smir and Tangiers easily accessible in a days sailing mixed in to this the hazards of shipping, tides and currents encountered within one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, the Straits of Gibraltar offer trainees unprecedented challenges.

Staying in the continent of Europe, Eastwards opens up the Mediterranean sea and all it has to offer, Sotogrande, Duquesa and Estapona are all ports within a days sail reach. Out west into the Atlantic Tarifa, Barbate and Cadiz all offer interesting and varied pilotage and passage planning challenges.
